The Scottsburg Community Association is proudly hosting A Founder’s Birthday for the founder of Scottsburg, located at the Scottsburg Community hall on February 8th from 2pm till 4pm. Join Scottsburg as they celebrate Levi Scott, and his history of bringing Scottsburg to life in 1850. You can visit the Historical town to learn all about the busy town n the late 1850’s as it was the head of the tidal navigation up the Umpqua River. Learn the town history about the Ferry, the steam boats, and the wagons people used to travel up the river systems through Scottsburg. Levi Scott, originally from Illinois, moved his family to Dallas, Oregon in 1844. In 1848, he staked a claim on Elk Creek where Scottsburg was later established. Levi Scott served as the the town’s first Postmaster when it was called Myrtle City.
